The races will be way more exciting than my rankings. I can only make educated guesses but the runners can really make it happen on Saturday.

Looking forward to a great meet.

I still can't believe that Urban isn't ranked above St. Joseph's Notre Dame! Urban's running program is unparalleled!!!...even by Arcadia High School! If they don't win, I will be truly amazed and might even quit running altogether.

What happened to the Acalanes girls? Defending NCS champs to not fielding a full team...Sad to see. Hope they come back.

Don't forget about Castro Valley girls for D1 . They have a strong top three and a solid team to back them up. I out them in contention for top 5 or even state

SRV boys over AV boys even after EBAL? not saying I disagree but that's interesting

Lol. Well played

I like most of theses rankings.I would put O'Dowd as favorites but I can see why they could be 3rd.

Anonymous said...

Both Odowd teams don't have the front end to hang with these bigger and better teams that is why they are third in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

The O'Dowd boys have the best front end in all of NCS besides DLS

Anonymous said...

It is the back end that hurts them... they can't have their 4/5 running 17 minutes and win. Every other team has solid enough guys up front (Campo with Adian and Weinberg, Redwood with Huxham and Andy, Acalanes with Gaskell and Wang..). In a race with every team having frontrunners the back 4/5 will make or break it for these teams.

Nobody from O'Dowd will finish in the top 10 guaranteed.

Melendez ran a 15:30 at Mt. Sac, a 15:45 at Clovis, and has probably ran that course more than anyone in all of NCS.
pretty gutsy "guaranteeing" nobody from o'dowd in the top 10.

Anonymous said...

O'Dowd boys should be fine as long as their top guy(s) don't get sick

Anonymous said...

Melendez also ran 16:10 at WACC finals at hayward

Anonymous said...

Melendez can break the top ten. And O'Dowd has a good front (However, to say they have the best besides DLS is a little hopeful). It will be a close race but I think O'Dowd will win because of their 3.

And back to reality:

Everyone knows Campo has the best team in the NCS on both sides.

You're welcome.

@ 1:21

I'm sure DLS and SJND would have something to say about that... and there's this guy named Fred Huxham that Goltra needs to concerned about. You're welcome.

Anonymous said...

If DLS can get a good race out of their 5th guy at State they could be lookin at a top 2 finish.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Chris. Good luck to all 3 of you guys on Saturday!

Well said Chris

Who's McKinleyville in D4?

Albert Caruana said...

McKinleyville is in the same league as Arcata. The boys finished 2nd to Arcata by only 8 points. Their top girl, Morgin Coonfield, is the favorite to win the girls race in Division IV.

Anonymous said...

whos the favorite to win the d4 boys race?

Albert Caruana said...

Based on fastest returners from last year's section meet, I think it's Efren Reyes and Jose Lopez.

Anonymous said...

I haven't seen much from the College park guys. Where have they run faster than Dublin's packed 1-5? Dublin ran extremely well early on the NCS course at the Farmers invite

Anonymous said...

I think that the race between Amador and SRV will be something to look forward to.

It would be interesting to get Albert's post-NCS analysis of how certain races played out versus his pre-NCS rankings. I wouldn't have disagreed, for example, with the pre-race prediction of Amador and Granada girls over Monte Vista and San Ramon, but look what happened. What's the story there? Sadly, the newspaper didn't cover this race at all.

I was thinking about doing something like that and compare pre-meet predictions and what actually took place. I was very accurate in some races and a bit off in others. If I have some free time later, I will see what I can do.
