Why don't the SF schools like SI, SHC or University HS join the SF section. I think it not only makes sense but would also make it more competitive. Seems silly to have three different sections for a city no more than 8 miles across.
Should the state set geographic boundaries here?
I think it would be more realistic for the current SF schools to join CCS or NCS than the schools you listed to join the SF Section.
Had we had the same commissioner in the 90's and early 00's I would agree with a move to NCS or CCS. However with Commissioner Collins has done a lot of good with the section and at this time it wouldn't be a good move for us. With track and field we don't send all the section winners to the state meet. You have to hit a qualifying time or mark during the season to go to the state.
Yes..I think it is ridiculous for both Oakland and SF to be their own section. Though I think they no longer can automatically go but have reach the qualifying mark. Still giving the spot to NCS or CCS would get more deserving athletes to state.
Or perhaps let Oak and SF be one section and let them compete for 1 spot only.
Combining Oakland and the City would be a bad idea for track .In the late 80's and early 90's they tried to make it work and it didn't . And To say those kids in OAL and the SF don't deserve to go to state so more kids from NCS or CCS can attend is a bunch of BS.
