CCS Track and Field Leaders heading into Semi-Finals...

http://www.paloaltoonline.com/news/show_story.php?id=25380

What is the most loaded event in CCS?  Who is the most overwhelming favorite in any event?  Who are the underrated individuals and/or teams?

I wouldn't necessarily call Estifanos underrated but he is having a fantasic season.

Times that stand out from the leaderboard...10.52 for the 100, 1:52 800, 47'10 TJ, 55.2 for Bryant's 400, 4:44 for Hiltz's 1600. Some really impressive marks that will contend at state. Solid leaderboard all around!

Everything is just all-right...

10.52 was wind aided, we will see how it goes head to head.

Lots of sub 5's this year in the girls mile. 4:44 mile is awesome but will need to be 4:39 or under at state to make national news.

800 is good but will 1:52 even make the State final this year? Johnson and Wascura will be a handful for Davis.

TJ needs to be 50'+

3:51 for the girls 4 x 400 is good too, at state maybe 3:46?

800 girls is very deep in quality but need to see a 2:08 or under to do anything at state.

I'd like to see a 200+ in the discus as well.

Time to step it up!

Are you kidding me?! 4:44 is currently #1 in the nation and would have put Hiltz at 12th in the nation (overall) in 2011.

4:44 would also have put her 3rd on the state podium in 2011, which is what she got last year at state with her 4:43 time (by the way, this was one of the fastest girls 1600 CA sate races ever, and no one broke 4:40).

I could only find one girl that has ever broken 4:40 in the mile/1600 at the CA state meet. I'm not saying it isn't going to happen this year. BUT, I'd say that running a 4:44 one month BEFORE state is more than just "all-right".

Cami Chapus is the defending champion and ran 4:40.88 last year. Hiltz is definitely her biggest threat at state. Should be a great final.
