This might have slipped through the cracks but this past Saturday, sophomore Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley High School lost her first high school race (Cross Country and Track and Field). It was in the 1600m. and she lost to Xochitl Navarrete 4:47.19 to 4:49.33. It was still a personal record for Baxter and more than likely will just be competing in the 3200m. at the State Meet were she is the defending state champion.

I saw her right leaving the track after this race; when I saw her face, I figured it was her first loss. Not for lack of effort, though! Good luck at Masters and State, Sarah!
cant win everything, and no reason to be upset, cause it was still a pr, eventually someone will run faster than you
exactly. it's good character-building for Sarah. I loved the way she handled the question in the post-race article...such maturity and tact. And good for Xochitl. I say good luck to Xochitl at Masters and State too!
