Today Livermore, with a fine effort by all the non-Diana George girls, upset favored Granada and a strong California squad to win the EBAL finals at Shadow Cliffs. This may alter the D-II picture as this places Livermore as a player in large races.

Amador Valley won by 9 over Monte Vista, where the only difference was the 5th place runner and Amador had the better by exactly those 9 places. This indicates that Mone Vista is not that far off and that Amador is that deep.

Liberty also defeated Deer Valley for 2nd in the BVAL behind DLS. This clouds the D-I boys picture.

In the last HAAL center meet, Castro Valley looked strong against Arroyo, but Arroyo (a new entry to D-I) has a very good upfront duo in the Thomas brothers, Daniel and Derek.

I think that Amador is still the NCS D-I favorite, but Monte Vista will be gunning for them. Likewise, Deer Valley will be after Liberty in a hot hurry. Castro Valley will be lurking in the periphery attempting to pounce on any chink in the armor the other teams may present.

The entire D-I boys picture will hinge on the #5 and #6 positions. It appears to be a case of the "haves" vs. the "have-nots."

The Livermore girls ran really well at Mt. SAC and I had moved them up to #2 in Division 2 in my last rankings. Good thing for Granada and California that Livermore is now in Div. II this year.

All I can say about the Division I boy's race is that it goes off on November 17th at 10:30am. It's going to be a great high school race.

I wouldn't judge amador valley by there performance yesterday. It was unfortunate that sean daut was attacked by a bee and admitted to the emergencey room hours before the race as he had severe swelling. Also the rest of the amador team ran around 20 secs to 60 secs slower on the course then the first league meet. They will be ready to go by NCS.

Is there going to be coverage of the SCL Finals? Should be a fun one to watch with the Petaluma boys and Sumpter/Taylor on the girls' side.

Jim Crowhurst of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat does a great job covering the SCL.

I will link to his site again once the results are posted.
