Blair Hurlock's win in the team sweeps in the first time I recall a Norcal runner venturing down to Mt Sac and coming home with gold. A couple questions - are there recent examples of Norcal runners delivering similar results against this level of competition (winning D3 are state was a big deal for Goltra but I think the Mt Sac field is a far bigger stage) Second questions - does Hurlock merit national attention. He beat guys Flotrack would put in the Elite 50. Should he get a mention at this level?
Blair Hurlock's victory in the team sweepstakes race is really impressive. I would have to do some research to find the last NorCal runner to accomplish the same feat. I believe Hurlock was already on the national radar but if there is a chance that he wasn't, he will be now.
In 1996, I believe, Mike Stember from Jesuit outkicked Tom Prindiville from De La Salle to win the team sweepstakes race. I would also have to do some research to see if there have been any other NorCal winners of the Team Sweepstakes.
That's on the boys' side. Julia Stamps and Amber Trotter showed some NorCal chops on the ladies' side.
