Granada girls can crack the top 10 once they get Megan McCandless back.

Anonymous said...

Where has McCandless been? She had a great track season.

Anonymous said...

Marin Academy is on the rise and San Rafael seems to peak well most years

Anonymous said...

Can anyone explain why St. Francis is still ranked behind Homestead? They beat them at Stanford without one of their top 3 runners.

Anonymous said...

San Rafael would need to step it up

Monte Vista (NCS) girls. Starn just had a bad race at Stanford it looks like. And their usual #3/4 was their 6 there, but its just one race. They have wins at Monte Vista Invite, did well at Ed Sias and Nike DLS.

B.O.D. over St. Joes? Really?

Anonymous said...

The "glaring omission": Arcadia Boys Team.

Awkward...

Anonymous said...

it's norcal only.

Awkward....

Anonymous said...

Did the BOD guys have a bad race at stanford because they didnt score that well

Anonymous said...

Yet again the St. Joes love fest continues....

Anonymous said...

By the way, where's Michael Wang of Acalanes?

Anonymous said...

Bell beat De La Salle soundly in the power merge. So take your pick at who is #1

Albert Caruana said...

That is correct but head to head in the same race, DLS came out on top. Power merges are great but no races have over 1000 athletes.

However you look at it, it's very very close and when they face each other again, either team could win.

Head to Head said...

DeLaSalle beat Bellarmine straight up - who cares about the merge.

Anonymous said...

SRV boys Div I deserve some mention for finishing first at the MV Invitational and Scott Bauhs along with respectful finishes at Lowell (4) and Stanford (7). SRV will be in the hunt at the NCS Championships in Nov

Anonymous said...

The NXN qualifiers care about the merge at State. So I think some people do care.

Anonymous said...

DeLaSalle is a better team at the moment than Bellarmine. Their top 3 are better than Bellarmine's top runner. Bellarmine's depth is phenomenal, but they need better performances to be able to improve their ranking. Also, the merge by NXN is only the top teams at the state meet, not the entire field as done in the Stanford Meet which clearly aids Bellarmine's depth.

I think your rankings for Girls is good at this point. But will definitely be fluid going forward.

Anonymous said...

Good point according to the results St. Francis beat Homestead yet they are still ranked below them..

Anonymous said...

Who cares. At the end of the season the merge will sort it all out. Even though you all don't like the merge.

Anonymous said...

SJS Girls - Davis, St Francis, and Bella Vista girls I think are all competing at the upcoming Bronco Invite at Willow Hills this weekend . . . that should sort things out a bit.

I'm curious about Anonyomous 9:55 PM
s comment about "SJND Lovefest". Do you think that the SJND, which took Stanford Div V places 1 through 4 with two varsity runners out with injuries, is overrated? Or have they perhaps been underchallanged at the early meets? Note Gabe Arias lost to Adrian Goltra at Ed Sias in a true photo finish, showing matching speed against one of the top runners; the rest of the team (again missing 2 varsity runners) did well too. The Murphy twins are definitely just getting better!

Just saying, any kudos to SJND are justified by their speed, depth, and determination.

Seems like St. Francis Mountain View Girls should be somewhere on this list given their performance at Clovis and that they were ahead of other ranked teams in the combined list at that meet. Especially true noting that the combined list is in error missing their #5 runner which moves them even higher.

Anonymous said...

I think davis usually doest field their varsity at that race.

Anonymous said...

At which race?

Anonymous said...

at the bronco invite

Is Odowd division 3 or 4? Didn't they run in Dv4 at Clovis? Have to be one of the top team if D4.

Albert Caruana said...

Bishop O'Dowd is Div. III.

Anonymous said...

Isn't St. Francis in Division 2 in CIF, but they ran the Division 3 race? There were only 4 divisions at Clovis so don't think they were meant to match CIF divisions.

Anonymous said...

Clovis had x large, large, medium and small divisions and meet management placed the teams so some d2 teams like st Francis and Los altos were in the medium division and other D2 teams (larger D2 teams mostly from southern section) were in the large division

Anonymous said...

Clovis divisions are always based upon the previous year's CBEDS. So, for this year the 2012 numbers were used. Also, O'Dowd raced in the Championship race.

Anonymous said...

O'Dowd girls for sure need to move up.. 9th overall at the meet..

Anonymous said...

Albert,

So why did they run in D4 at Clovis and won the girls event? There was a D3 race too.

This is from the entry information for the Clovis Invitational.

Check out the second paragraph for an explanation.

Despite a solid top 3-4, it doesn't seem like Homestead has a 5th guy that can match compared to schools like St. Francis. Also I'd like to nominate Aptos boys for a honorable mention, considering they were the 3rd norcal team at crystal springs behind bellarmine and carlmont. Just putting it out there, I don't go there or anything, but I'm a bit impressed compared to their recent rankings

Anonymous said...

I would put Lynbrook and St. Francis ahead of Homestead based off of Clovis with Lynbrook's killer top 3 and St. francis is just better. Los Altos and Los Gatos honorable mention

Anonymous said...

Just a bit of warning about the power merge comparing times from Clovis D4, D3, and championship races (early morning) to D1 and D2 races (early afternoon). Temps in the morning were very favorable (high 50's), but they got into the low 80's by afternoon.

Nils said...

I heard 95 degrees by afternoon, but who's counting. A Berkeley High parent was there and told me he could see the difference in times (and in the freshness of the runners). Approx 20 degrees hotter by the time D1 ran.

Anonymous said...

Davis girls will NOT field a team at Bella Vista meet on Saturday. Next race is Mt SAC

Anonymous said...

It was not 95 degrees at Clovis. It was 78, I was there. Not that it didn't feel hot but if you have been in the Central Valley when it is really 95 you would certainly know. Still a 20 degree difference though as it was 58 for D3, probably mid 60's low 70's for the Championship race.

I love the coaches who post on here posing as "fans." No one just hangs out at XC meets unless you are a parent or athlete. And on that rare chance they are a fan there is no chance they have inside info. You guys crack me up!

Anonymous said...

When are the new rankings going up?

hank said...

I beg to differ. I am neither a parent of an XC runner, a HS runner or a current coach, but I do go to races to watch as a fan and have lots of friends that are coaches (parent friends as well) and although I don't know the inside scoop on all teams, there are some teams that I do know about. And, I also post with a name.

I don't know what 8:39AM is talking about. I am not a coach or parent, but I am a fan of high school XC as are three of my friends that I run with.
I don't understand what he's objecting to...I didn't see anything very controversial in any of the posts.
