xcnation.com and Cross Country Express join forces

Some exciting news as this site is joining forces with xcnation.com to better promote all our hard working athletes and coaches.  If you are a fan of the history of the sport of cross country and have not visited xcnation.com yet, do yourself a favor and check it out now.  Are you familiar with postal meets?  Who is the best boy's xc team ever?  What about girl's team?  Who are the distance running legends featured on the site?  It's all in there.

A quote from Aron Taylor, one of the founding members of the website:
"XC Nation's focus is on athlete success and the importance of cross country history. We value the contributions of crosscountryexpress.com exceptional coverage of high school cross country and track and field. We are pleased to feature prominently their athlete spotlights, which are second to none, nationally on our front page. We look forward to promoting the sport we are passionate about in partnership with crosscountryexpress.com"

Feel free to email Aron or myself with ideas on how to both improve our sites.

It seems to me that a "postal" meet should be run on the same day, accross the nation and times "mailed" (emailed now days) in. The idea of collecting pr's is kinda lame....

You are correct in that was how the postal meets worked in the past. Does anybody know when those postal meets were held in the past? During cross country?

I think Aron collecting the data from so many schools is great because it shows teams how they compare with the rest of the country. It also is a great way to see who are going to be the most competitive teams heading into next school year's cross country season.

Postal meets were held anywhere from 1st week of Oct to mid-Dec and areas would hold 2 or 3 of them and at multiple sites.

Thanks to NXN we dont have to mail in Postal results to determine who the best cross country team is but...what we can do is find out who has the best distance team in America.

Bottom line, if you line up next Saturday in a 3200m against Southlake Carroll, their 5 guys personal best is a 9:18 team average...so yes, they can tout, as a personal best is a personal best that they are the best distance team in America...at least right now.

We are striving to bring a spotlight the 3200m and emphasize the "team" philosophy i.e. cross country is a year round sport.

Postal was chosen out of respect to the past format but with an xcnation track&field spin...
