Can you name the only American male to win the World Cross Country Championship? He actually won twice and here is the video of the finish of his first victory in 1980 which he won in dramatic fashion.

Rich Kimball was world Jr Champion in 1974. Does that count?
I guess I should have been more specific and narrowed it down to the men's race. They also have the junior race which Peter mentioned and 1998 they added a short course as well.
