Most anticipated event at the state meet?

Which event are you most looking forward to at the state meet this coming weekend?  Which is the most competitive running event?  Field event?  Can Amador Valley win the state title in the 1600m. relay?  I would have to go back and look but when was the last time a NorCal team won the boys' 1600m. relay?  How many events will NorCal win this weekend?  Could this be a record haul?

BOYS 1600.....

Blake Haney must make a choice.

Will he let others do the work and risk letting the pace lag slightly, leading to a fast finish? If so, Eugene Hamilton III (1:50.2) will close in 55 and blow the doors off the field.

OR

does he nut up, take the lead from the gun, and run 61/62 per lap and simply gap the field with his superior strength (8:49).

YOUR CHOICE BLAKE. CHOOSE WISELY.

Boy's 400 is the race to watch!

Can Anna Maxwell still beat Hiltz at State in the 1600? And can she beat Sarah Baxter in the 3200?

any events will be hampered by the predicted high heat anticipated for clovis... at or near 100 degrees.. hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Having a NorCal 1600m relay team seeded first is exciting, it should be a good race. Good luck to Amador Valley

And can she beat Sarah Baxter in the 3200? NOBODY beats Baxter :-)

Yeah I agree, looking forward to see how Anna Maxwell well fare against Hiltz and Baxter

Maxwell and Hiltz will be a Great Race to Watch, I Personally think Maxwell can beat Baxter but Not this weekend since Baxter only runs the 3200m and she actually hasn't improved the Last 3 Years and Maxwell is for sure Making a Name for Herself Now and Looks Stronger every Year. The Boys 400 will be amazing just in the Prelims and Blake Hanley all the way.

I look forward to Eugene breaking 4 minutes, which I will celebrate by listening to the song "four minutes."

In the off chance that you are not trolling, remember that in order to break four, you need to have the strength, not just the speed. Could Eugene break 9 in the 3200? Probably not.

Baxter hasn't improved????

She ran a PR in the 3200 a month ago at 10:06. Plus, she's shown that she is capable of peaking properly at the end of the season (as evidenced in XC mainly).

And as talented as Eugene is, it will take a lot for him to break 4. German Fernandez didn't even do it and he was far more impressive.

I'm really looking forward to the girls 1600, too. The CCS trio plus what SJS is bringing could finally stop the South!

It's weird that someone would say Baxter "hasn't improved."
3200 Meters
2011 Outdoor 9 10:13.00a
2012 Outdoor 10 10:08.11a
2013 Outdoor 11 10:06.74a

When a girl is running in the low 10s you're not going to see 20-second improvements each year.

That being said, I do think Maxwell could beat her, but boy would it be a battle. I'll still place my bets on Baxter.

Hamilton will NOT break 4 for the mile, and as unfortunate as it is, Amador also has NO CHANCE to win, even though they are seeded first. This is obvious to those of us with the foresight and intelligence to accurately predict peak performances, and Hamilton WILL NOT run faster than 4:07, although even thAt is unlikely.

Is the live webcam for the state meet to be broadcasted on Saturday only? Don't see it mentioning Friday's prelim.

Amador has "no chance"..? They're seeded more than a second over any other 1600m relay team going into the meet. I'd call that a "chance".

Well Eugene won't be going sub 4 now... Sad to see such a great talent miss an awesome opportunity, but I understand.

They do not run the mile at the state meet, thus you will not be seeing a sub 4 regardless.

Would a 3:58.5 make you happy? :)
