Thanks for doing this blog for all of us. It is greatly appreciated.
Was this a slow course? For 2.8 miles these times seem off, given what many of these runners are capable of.
Thanks for the kind words. I get just as much from the blog as any of you out there.
As for the course yesterday, it's possible it could have been a hilly course (from pictures that I saw). Warm maybe?
Basically a next to impossible course: single trail most of the course, thus little room to maneuver or pass, steep hills, large stones to jump over, branches sticking out from trees, running on pebbles much of the way, stairs (not hills),no room for error or a ditch awaits you, hard to breathe; a lot of falling, slipping, twisting of ankles, blood- a xc runner's nightmare
anything else you wish to know?
Sounds like a good time.
a good time had by all; forgot to mention: mountain lion and rattlesnake postings- a snake was coiled in the chute for the finish; fortunately someone had the temerity to use a large stick to get rid of it
That course was brutal. 50 percent of the trail was narrow and winding, with very tall hiker log stairs on the uphill, then a steep narrow downhill trail covered in dry oak leaves, where one runner slipped and sprained her ankle and at least three others in the front 20 fell (but got back up).
On the other hand, it is truly beautiful there and everyone was very nice.
