The freshman from Monte Vista, Brooke Starn deserves mention.

If Aidan Goltra's 15:35 at Roughrider was on the full Woodward Park course, he belongs a lot higher on this list

Kendall Derry (Bella Vista) ran a 18:13 and won the Division II race at Clovis Invite. She should be right behind Maggie Bell on your list.

That was a full 5k time and yes he probably deserves to be higher but we'll wait until he has a couple of races. Next week's DFAL meet should be very telling on where he belongs.

Thanks for catching that about Kendall Derry. I adjusted the list.

Keep the comments coming. I just want to make sure that names that belong on the list are there.

It's Always Interesting to see Athletes who Never get the respect they deserve.

That comment doesn't help us at all. Who are these athletes you are speaking of that don't get the respect? I will be happy to add them. It's highly possible that I missed a few runners which is why I always ask for people to chime in.

Of the top 5 nor cal individuals, who's racing at Mt. Sac? and how much will this weekend play into the next version of rankings?

Albert Caruana said...

Good question. Who is running at Mt. SAC this weekend?

If runners are going head to head at Mt. SAC, I would say that could effect the next rankings.

But no worries, rankings are just for fun. Performances at section, state and beyond are remembered way more than rankings on the internet.

There are some teams who do "lie low" most of the season preparing for the important, final races. Those athletes will suffer neglect early on in these rankings. To Anonymous, above, I say two things: patience really is a virtue, and in Cross Country, good things (and respect) often really do come to those who wait.

It'll be interesting to see which teams/individuals come out of nowhere in the post season

i think Kendall Hacker from SI is probably one of the top girls.

Kendall Hacker has been added. She is clearly the best runner in the WCAL.

Any others?

Claire carrol beat Fraser head to head at Stanford?

Albert Caruana said...

She did by a second. Not so close this past Saturday but that was Carroll's first time on the Crystal Springs course which is a big disadvantage.

Berekat should be much higher. He has beaten Vasquez and powless already this season.

Neilson Powless (SJS) is racing Mt Sac. Should still be on tired legs though. He races XTERRA World Championships next weekend then he's done with tri's for the season.

I think Jackson Crosse of Livermore should at least be on the on the rise section for next one! Placing 4th at the ebal center should get him something

Fred Huxham 15:06 at Mt.Sac should probably rise above the "bubble".

Albert Caruana said...

Agreed. Just trying to figure out where to put him.

Freshman Morgin Coonfield from McKinleyville HS, NCS D IV. Has been closing in on other local runner Chloe Pigg and fast. Only 20 sec behind last two races against one another. 18:07 3 mile, and 18:51 5k

It's so difficult to view your results for Mt. Sac when there was a time discrepancy in one of the Div 3 races. It still hasn't been officially corrected, although I've posted video (with audio that confirms the times). Bishop O'Dowd high school had two runners that ran sub 16:00 times, but the timing error prevents them from getting credit.
