NBL Tri-Meet Results

From former Maria Carrillo runner Alex Wolf-Root

Yesterday marked the first league meets of the season for the NBL (and SCL and CMC) teams, and there are some note-worthy results, specifically at the Piner, Maria Carrillo, Santa Rosa tri-meet.

In the boys' race, Piner went 1-2-3 to handily defeat reigning NBL champs MCHS, and show they are the favorites to win their first ever NBL crown. (They did win some SCL titles previously, most recently in 1985).

On the girls' side, Maria Carrillo narrowly defeated (31-33) Santa Rosa and Piner to get their 100th straight NBL win. That's 7 straight years of 7-0 in regular season meets and 7-0 at the NBL Championships, plus these two yesterday. You have to go all the way back to the 2002 NBL championships, won by Montgomery, to find a league loss for the Pumas.
