I wouldn't exactly call it a surprise, but Noordam has done very well the last few weeks. she had a big PR getting into the state meet and she is riding that momentum well.

Vasquez has been underrated all year, but some might call his double qualify for finals a surprise.

CCS qualified 13 of the 14 runners they sent in the 800 and 1600 way to represent. Keep up the good work!

MIGUEL!!!!! GREAT showing. CCS girls 1-2-3 in the 1600!!!! Is Yohannes hurt? What happened to our 3200 runners? Was it a brutal first mile? Overall, great CCS showing!!!

Miguel was insanely underrated

I've been working with Miguel for four years and I can say that it was very gratifying to see him end on such a high note. The last thing I told him before they started was that I really believe he could take second place.

He is a great kid and I'm going to miss coaching him. Expect big things from him in college

Dear coach Guven: When you see Miguel, please tell him that the Bellarmine runners picked him as CCS boys athlete of the season and meet; there is no runner for whom they have more respect and admiration, and that is after he kicked our butts for four years in XC and track! It was so much fun to cheer him on State...what a stirring performance, and please know how proud the whole section is of Miguel, you, and Andrew Hill...congrats!

Thank you for those kind words. That will mean a lot to Miguel and it means a lot to me too. It's nice to know he has some admirers.
