Northern California Invitational Results

Some outstanding performances at Top 8 as always. It's a well run meet and loved the live results link. I don't have any complaints, just a few suggestionsThere's always a lot of deadtime before and after the 300 hurdles. They should put in a exhibition 4x800 like NCS does at their trials or tighten up the schedule (which I know they don't want for recovery between 100 to 200). Reduce number of heats. Keep it at two heats per division max. Or reinstate the frosh-soph top 8 & have only one FS race in a final like they used to. Lastly, is there a day stuff is not going on at this school. Besides prom, there was a basketball game, volleyball tournament, stuff at the tennis courts. But prom? Why move it from a Friday to a day you have prom? And nothing you can do about this one but the traffic was good practice for CCS finals. Outside of a few logistics it was about as good of a meet as you can have.

Quite an impressive triple by Mari Friedman (2:13, 4:59, 10:57)!

Has any other athlete (male or female) previously won all three of the distance events at the Top 8 meet?

I know Mari's best event is the 800, but I imagine she's in good position to claim both the 800 and 1600 titles at the CCS championships later this season. I don't know if she and her coaches are planning to have her run all three events at sectionals.

Oakland Tech 5 under 11:50, 11:50? So......

That's pretty good with 4 sophomores and a freshman and the lead runner at sub 11. How many teams have 5 girls under 11:50 in Northern California?

Looks like former Drake and University of California, Berkeley runner Richie Boulet is coaching at Oakland Tech.

Best performance was Rylee in the 300 Hurdles; can't wait until next week when she does the shot put and javelin.

Gabby Peterson from Healdsburg with a 8 sec PR and going sub 5 in the 1600

I noticed Peterson's time. She hung on to Glennis Murphy for most of the race and now has the 3rd fastest 1600 time in NCS.
