Rabbit went out too fast...and it was costly.
No. 57-58 first lap is not too fast for a sub 4mile. This is also evidenced by the 58 last lap. The problem was the gas was let up in lap 2 and it was costly in lap 3.
Maybe not so much the first 400 but the first 200 was very fast. At some point they all had to ease up a little to recover from fast start.

So Teare attempted a sub-4 mile and ran a great 4:01.29, but he was also given credit for a 3:59.80 1600m on the same effort on Athletic.net.
I don't think I've seen that before. Is that something new?
They had a camera at both finish lines.
