32 and 33 runners is way too many for a track race

The seeded boys 3200 race has 39 runners. The meet has gotten so popular and competitive that the numbers you see entered in the invitational races is the norm now.

I have seen bigger fields at the Rio Linda Invitational. That was NUTS.

16-20 is the right number for a fast race like this. Though if they get in a line and not jostle the first mile you can do 30 runners in a fast race. I've seen Stanford races with world leaders. Everyone just needs to be patient.

Just add another heat Friday night, it is well deserved.

Clinger going win boys race, no disrespect to the rest but he is the best runner in the U.S. IMHO of course.
How about a poll?

Great idea. Will have two polls up shortly.

Teare hasn't lost a race this track season yet, and that includes Texas Distance. Not to discredit Clinger, who is very strong, but Cooper is clearly right now THE man in high school T&F. Teare first, Clinger second. When I'm proven right, I'll be back to give more insight as the season progresses. No crystal ball, simply know what's up.

I think anybody in California is a big Cooper fan but Clinger had an undefeated XC season and has beaten Cooper in every head to head competition so far in their high school careers.

I look forward to watching the race.

Hey 8:23 if your proven wrong will you also be back? A lot of very good runners in the race besides those two. Should be a good race. And what about the girls, Oakley and Lane? NXN champ vs Foot Locker champ on the track.
And, who is in the mile? Remember the days the mile was the premier event?

Lol, sarcasm, that's funny 10:29, you're funny, that's why you're funny, because you have wit. Of course I'll be back if Mr. Caruana allows my posts to stick. The fact that Clinger has been perfect this season and vs. Teare overall is what makes it so cool, and yes, this field is packed with great talent, but I just feel that those two, barring health, or tweeky injury are head and shoulders and should go 1/2. And my statistical and current analysis of the field leads me to give the nod to Cooper. Please be gentle with your response, I'm fragile and very sensitive.

Girls' field narrowed down to 30 runners.

Clinger just went 4:02.2 in the 4x1600 might be a little tired tomorrow? Might night, guy is a beast!

The Denner sisters from Oak Ridge just ran 10:24and 10:25.7 in the seeded race.

Anybody that saw them race at Stanford last weekend is not surprised.

Also, Matt Strangio, Jesuit 9th grader, just ran 9:17.68.

Dude you were right 8:41-8:44....WOW!
Teare the man today!

3200 boys was an incredible race, watched it, WOW. I didn't have the second place runner figured in my top three, he posted a great time and surprised me. Teare has just been on a different level this season. Clinger was solid as I thought he would be. Everyone should be proud of that performance. Hirsch!!! What a comeback after getting tripped. Could go on and on about that run. Good luck the rest of the season to all.

So much for the race fields being too large

Several fields were too big but the result of those races are incredible.
