Whoops ... didn't mean to delete.

There are two from NCS that I know of:

Sasha Wallace (Castro Valley HS) is there. She ran the top 100m time in the prelim round (13.86). She probably would have been top 3 in TJ if she'd jumped (42-1, 41-5, 40-3 were the top three marks), but she passed on the event according to the results chart.

Alexis Robinson (Eureka HS) is running the 400m later today. Alexis is a junior and just got faster and faster toward the end of the season. Consider this: his top time as a sophomore was 50.30. This year he didn't run a single 400 over 50. But for most of the season, his times were all in the 48.87 - 49.79 range. Fast, but not state (much less national) caliber.

Then - at the Redwood Empire meet in Santa Rosa - he pulled off a 48.01, a 0.86s PR.

Six days later, he broke THAT PR by .22s in the prelim round at MOC in Berkeley.

The next day he broke the previous day's PR by 0.76s.

After running the 2nd fastest qualifying time the first day at state (47.26), he then PR'd in the finals by .48s to get 2nd.

Two months ago his PR was 48.87, and he's since taken 2.32s off of this.

These are great! Any more Nor Cal Runners in the Juniors or Pro level? Looks like Nor Cal has been well represented on Day 1.

Do the winners of the junior events also go to World Championships?

Sasha won the 100m hurdles. Alexis Robinson got 2nd in his heat (47.17) and 4th overall for tomorrow's 400m final. He'll be in L3.
