I get Bell over Carlmont but why is Carlmont ranked 5th? They have numerous good runners coming back? Definitely more than the teams ranked ahead of them(except for bellarmine).

Perhaps 5th might be too low but Carlmont loses Bereket, Matison, Layton and Dickson from their CCS team last year. We'll see how their young runners step up for this coming season.

I am in the sccal and can tell from what I have seen scotts valley is going to be DEEP! They might even beat aptos.....

Scotts Valley is very good. They have one of the top runners in CCS, they are young and they are well coached.

Scotts Valley should have a lot of depth on the boys, they only have one other sport in the Fall and that is Football!

I'm looking at results of the State meet last year, and Scotts Valley's #2 runner ran 17:22. How exactly is this "DEEP"? Am I missing something?

Astute observation, because last year's XC season is one very solid barometer of this year's XC season's possibilities, and based on their times, it would appear that the Falcons would not be one of the strongest CCS teams...but last season's XC marks are not the only data points out there. Another strong indicator, I think, is this year's track season. If one checks the SCCAL track finals results, one would find this:

Edwards Jr. 4:27 in league finals, we know the rest!
McCartney (sic?) frosh 4:39 (17:19 Crystal)
Levy Soph 4:55/10:54
Heath Soph 9:54 (17:04 Toro)
Ross frosh 10:13 (17:23 Toro)
Hawk soph 2:03 (17:21 Toro)
plus Klotz Jr. 17:06 Toro

Assuming they all run XC, given their youth and a great coach, they definitely have quality depth!!

Using track results, I believe Carlmont will once again be one of the top CCS teams in XC this year; check out their Sophs alone in the PAL finals!!!

And, don't forget to hydrate this week...Happy 4th of July!

Thanks for all the great comments.

I originally had Carlmont 2nd on my list and based on what they have done this past decade, the runners they return plus the young runners coming up, they could very well finish in the top 2 once again.

I think Aptos will beat Scott's valley, but it will be close. definitely harder league finals than sectionals for them. Scott's valley is deep, but so is Aptos, and they have a lot of great very young talent. as deep as Scott's valley is, their second guy has consistently been beaten by Aptos'. 1, 2, 3 and sometimes 4. we shall see though

Why is Aptos ranked ahead of St. Francis? At State Finals, SF ran WAYYYYY better than Aptos.

@anon 11:24

I agree it is going to be a battle between SV and Aptos. Compare these stats from last year and SCCAL track finals

Aptos
Olson frosh 16:16 Toro 4:30/9:50
Tiran frosh 17:00 Toro 4:38/10:35
Rose soph 16:48 Toro 4:47/10:29
Price Jr. 17:08 Toro
Culwell (Jr) 17:46 Toro
Bray frosh 17:26 Toro
Miller soph 4:47/10:37
Niles frosh 4:53/10:56

If they all run XC, the SCCAL races will be epic, like they are every year...

Yeah, Aptos must have really blown up at state finals. What exactly is the meaning of "top 10" here? I dont mean to bring up the Bellarmine/Carlmont wars again, but are we talking about all the way through state or CCS?
@9:11: this is considering all that graduate from the other teams. Aptos and Scotts Valley in particular are two schools with some talent that didn't graduate anybody too significant.
@pmccrystle: WHO ARE YOU haha I'm from the SCCAL too and I feel like I know you

@9:42, St. Francis only lost 1 Senior from their scoring 5

Mclarnan, Sartwell, Lacomble, Begur, Ward, and Olander return

Are you going to do an indepth prediction for CCS?
