Hiltz over Estrada in 10:48 at the Santa Cruz Invite.(http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/MeetResults.aspx?Meet=183282)

You would think more schools would be interested in relays, I guess everyone like chasing personal marks rather than having a sense of team?

How is Arcadia, Penn, Drake (just to name a few) so big and relays here are empty?

Tis was a great meet, we'll be back next year and hope the word gets out so more teams come next year!

People do have a sense of team but track is much more individual

Pianin's 10:37 by herself is impressive

I think disabling comments after Wolfsmith got the last word in on the last interview is unfair. Especially considering the drama that is allowed to spew here regarding Carlmont.

But on another note, there were some great marks this weekend, especially from Carlmont! Woot woot.

But let's talk this weeks top 8 meet. When do these entries come out! This is always the best meet in Nor Cal all year! So when do we find out who got in.

^ most likely Monday night but don't hold that to me.

Anonymous at 8:06 I agree there is too much drama about Carlmont, I'm glad Bereket is back though because he was fun to race in cross country and hopefully he's ready for track (he did good at Top 7) but id like to put it out there that I was the last person to comment on that and I am not Wolfsmith, I'm a CCS runner in BVAL and unfortunately our school got the coach Bob De La Cruz from them so I know they're school has gone through coaches that don't work with athletes (he had me literally run 25 miles a week in cross country which obviously did not work)

Anyone know when Arcadia is next year? April is also WCR, I'm wondering if two big meets are going head to head next year.

Arcadia Should Be April 4th and 5th, with the Decathlon on the 3rd and 4th.

The info for Top 8 says 2 heats of 16 for Varsity 1600, and 2 heats of 12 for Girls 1600. Anyone know if this is a misprint, or the reason they'd run smaller heats for the girls?

I am not the official word on this, but from what I have seen in years past these are not hard and fast rules. Last year there was two heats of 20 in the Girls 1600. I have also seen heats of 22 or 24 in the 3200 for girls.

From what I gather they want competitive heats with respectable times. If they have 50 girls with 11:45 or better (like at Arcadia) there would probably be 2 heats. The idea here is to make sure the right kids are in the meet that will produce the fastest race possible. The time guidelines are usually right on, if they run that time they probably will run. If they didn't hit that mark they probably shouldn't have been entered and if they are close one either side of the mark they are on the bubble.

Willie just wants a quality meet. This is one reason the Top 8 meet is better than the section meet, the right kids get to run. No slow runners with automatic bids.

The girls times in the 1600 are way faster than in years past, and I was just wondering if they were really running less than last year. The F/S classic champ is 32nd in CCS at 5:22.23. The Girls 1600 is probably the last place you'll see slow times this year.

My guess is 2 heats of 16-20. Willie is good about getting people in. Don't worry mom/dad/coach. 5:22 will probably get in!

Hank, what are the odds on this or am I talking out of my...?

That's what I think too. I'm just too impatient to wait til tonight or tomorrow. They call it Top 8, so if only 24 get in then so be it. Great to see the fast times. I must be honest. The 5:22 is no affiliation to me. I wouldn't want anyone to think I'm speaking for her. I used that as an example of how strong the girls 1600 is. I

Entries are up.

Fast heat of 1600 could very well be a state final review. Wow!

Pretty Positive I Heard Maxwell was Not Running the 1600m and was Just Running the 800m.

Well there were some accusations thrown out a few weeks ago about certain athletes dodging others in the SCCAL. Now you have the heavy hitters scheduled to race and there are rumors of some dropping the event?

Duals are one thing, big invites are another. So who is dodging who? So is Rob saying Anna is in with that comment? Just sayin'.

Yes Anna is Only running the 800m and yes it has been planned that way for awhile, Told Willie at Arcadia, we just confirmed to Him the other day and it is the Last Chance to Run a Good 800m before Championships start because focusing on 1600m and 3200m. Dodging don't Know where you are coming a few weeks Back. But We have had some Great Races against some teams in our League especially against Aptos which is always fun. Yes Anna Did Not run that Meet for the first time Missing a Meet but Was at Science fair and a World Conference Speech Tournament, School Academics was Priority first when you have that opportunity, I had her scheduled for two Meets but only if She Made it back in time and besides I shouldn't Have to explain, My Athlete and My Program.

My Comment above, just in a Hurry and Heading to work.

Props to Rob^

If people make comments about your program, that means you are doing well.

I agree with Albert, people are going to talk about top programs and individuals. I appreciate the reply Rob, and it's cool in a way because our sport doesn't get much press, but really you were right on when you said, "my plan, my athlete, my program." You have to respect that. You're thinking of your athlete first, let the trolls chatter and try not to let it bother you.

Anonymous said...

Looks like Rob was correct. Very easy to make anonymous comments.

Anonymous said...

Right about what? Only running the 800? Shoot, I hope he was right about that. Great run by Anna!

Having top 800 time in the state and saving her for the up coming meets.
