Pre-Season Cross Country Rankings in the works...

I will start to post next week.

In the meantime, feel free to comment below on the teams on the rise, contenders and anything pertaining to the upcoming cross country season.

What runners improved the most this past track season?  What teams made the biggest strides?  Who are the state contenders next year (team and individual)?

Bellarmine looks too good on paper Kyle Rae returns and the only lose Dalton Guthrie in the scoring. They also have three sophomores who are almost identical in times, two of them posting low 9:40s times. They also seem to have a never ending machine of just producing guys out of no where. However, whether they are up for the task that's a different story. I think if all goes well they could have an outstanding year and get top 5 in the state, but they just can't seem to ever win CCS so I am unsure about them.

Amador Valley has a great team this year! They are only losing one senior, Kellen Cole. But they have upcoming seniors that had great track seasons. Sam Aceret who ran a 3000 at the Stanford invite in a time of 8:51, a 1600 in 4:28. Taylor Peissner who ran a 1600 in 4:27. They also have two upcoming juniors who should have great cross country seasons this year. Their names are Theo Carter and Blaine Infald. If these four can stay healthy and live up to the potential, you will see them win the NCS Division I championship and maybe a top five spot at State.

Most improved runner = Nina Anderson

Has anyone else improved that much?

College Park will make a great showing again (as always).

Look out for San Rafael in D4.

Castro Valley should do well too.

Of course, Petaluma will be strong as well.

Is it true that College Park is now Division 1?

SRV is in D-2 this year, I believe, but who do they even have left on the guys side?

Well, the NBL/SCL wishes the best for Beyers, Dowdy, and Zellman. (Check out NCS League & Section times!)
And then here come the "junior" Luis Luna from Piner. Trusting he continues healthy, he is the guy for Nor Cal.
The rest of his team is young and will be pushing everyone.
Petaluma is a strong, young program, but...I think Piner is the one.

srv looks something like this

4:17/9:22 (to be junior)
4:3x/9:57 (to be soph)
4:36/10:07 (to be junior)
1:59/4:37/10:3x (to be junior)
4:50/10:3x (to be soph)

Not as dominant as they were last year, but not bad

SRV graduated 5 of their top 6 including #3 D1 NCS finisher Kevin Griffith. With only one returning from this group, 2010 will likely a rebuilding year. Probably good that SRV fell to D2 this year. Though young, they will compete hard. 2011 will be SRV's year to be back on top in D2. Agreed that Amador will be a very good team, but Castro Valley will be the D1 team to beat with Eversole and Martore returning to lead them. Can't count out DLS either although they will be young as well.

As for Amador being a potential top 5 at State...get a grip! As strong as SRV was this past season the best they could do is #10 at State. Still, a great showing. Castro Valley and Davis will be the class of D1 XC this year in NorCal and these two teams might crack the top 10 at State. As an EBAL dad, I will root for Amador if they get there, but top 5 in State with all those incredible SoCal teams...maybe the heat this weekend caused a temporary hallucination.

SRV will be solid, and they have some good young talent, but not nearly as good as they were last year. Castro Valley has 3 really good guys coming back, but they drop off steeply after that, from what I've seen. Amador Valley and Monte Vista will be good, but I think the battle will be between De La Salle and College Park, especially if CP finds a fifth, they have 4 really good guys coming back but no one else on the radar. De La Salle's Evan Molineux is someone to watch, he is only starting to get to his potential.

I thought SRV lost ALL their middle distance/XC guys, no?

srv still has to-be junior parker deuel 4:17/9:22/15:43(at NCS xc)

Anonymous said...

I see that in the voting CP and MV girls have a lot of votes...is that justified? Who do they have? Didn't they both graduate their top runners?

Anonymous said...

I didn't know Deuel was a junior. He's a giant-I thought he was a senior last season!

Anonymous said...

Parker Deuel from SRV was a Soph last year (2009/2010).

I believe CP girls do lose their top runner from last season, Alcyia Cridebring, but I think they still have enough talented young runners that will be able to get the job done.
However, I don't see how MV girls got as many votes as they did. Arent they losing 4 girls from their top 7, including their top runner?

Anonymous said...

Actually, it looks like CP girls and MV girls both lose 4 in their top 7 which puzzles me as to why they got so many votes.

What about Div lll Boys? Individual/team? When will that come? Top returning boys in NCS?

Anonymous said...

+1 on the top returning boys/girls in NCS...
