Serra HS Invitational Results

http://www.dyestatcal.com/ATHLETICS/TRACK/2011/serrares.htm

Some impressive marks from the biggest Serra Invitational to date.  What were the best efforts that stood out from this meet?

Also, CCS Top 8 meet will be this Friday.  What are the most anticipated races?  Who is going to break out at this meet?  There is always a couple of athletes that really shine at this meet.  Who will it be?

Camille Deadwiler winning both the open 100m and 200m Girls Varsity; American's 4x400m F/S Boys losing to 2nd place by only 0.21 sec...

Seems like Serra always has a head wind. Sucks to be in WCAL this year...especially with a 7 lane track!

Too bad they don't flip it around and run the other way like most invites do!

On a positive note they had wind gauges! I think this is the first meet in northern California to have a legit 100 meters!

Is there a possibility of any sub 9's in the varsity 3200m at top 8? F/S 3200m should also be a good race.

Well, we did have one last year. I don't know if anybody will be motivated enough to push the pace for a sub 9 time. More than likely, it will be a tactical race.

Frosh/Soph 3200 should be a very good race. Agreed.

Who do you think will win the 3200m on both levels?

CCS Runners don't like to push themselves and are afraid to try and go for a good time before State. I say winner is 9:28ish for boys; 11:08 for girls.

Too many kids like to sit and kick and are afraid to push the pace without someone leading the way. Its a shame really...

Last 5 years at Top 8...

2010 - 8:59.53 11:01.01
2009 - 9:15.46 11:04.93
2008 - 9:28.03 10:54.62
2007 - 9:29.65 10:56.76
2006 - 9:29.59 11:09.63

So I'll say winning times are 9:21.xx & 11:03.xx

The fast times for girls were back when Katie Daly would run all out from the Gun and Ferronte would do the the sit and kick the all the Aptos runners do. With no one to take it out on the girls side expect another sit and kick.

For the boys the Rowe and Strums are now gone. 9:28+ is my guess with another sit and kick tactics like it was from 06-08.

At this point we don't even know who is entered in the 2 mile yet. If Robinson and Maxwell and Fraiser are entered for the girls it could be fast as those are my bets for the top 3 at CCS. For the boys Bishop is the only one who could make it interesting and I bet he doesn't even run it.

Rumor has it that Bishop and Plazolo are going to try and go low at Top 8. Both looked great in their last efforts and if they work together for the first 24 they’ll break 9. It could be fun to watch.

Bishop is going 3200 - for that's his best bet at States (IMOH).

I can confirm that I will be running the 3200 only at tip 8, and also me and Donald and Will Geiken are going to make a sub-9 attempt.

That's the plan, I feel like if we hit 2800 in 7:58 or better one of us will have a shot at it, 7:55 and we all three may break 9. The support is much appreciated, we will do our best to deliver on our promise.
