Breaking News: Monterey Invitational now cancelled

Greetings Coaches,
As many of you already know, Toro Park is serving as the primary base camp for overhead operations for the Soberanes Fire. As a result, the park has been closed to all day use and special events. I had hoped that the park would be available in time for the Monterey Bay Invitational, but it appears that will not be the case. In order to spare any of you the hassle of scrambling for an alternate meet last minute, I feel it is prudent to announce the cancellation of the 2016 Monterey Bay Invitational. It is truly disappointing to have to do so as there are currently 76 schools registered and already, even with only 22 entries submitted, as many as 250 runners entered in some of the divisions. It is an honor and a privilege to host each of you each year at our meet and we hope that you will return next year. if you have any questions feel free to email, text, or call me.
Justin Conneau,
North Salinas

This is truly too bad. With this decision made, when will CCS make the decision to move the section meet to Crystal? Seems like that decision should be made in the next week. That is the prudent thing to do since some teams will need to make travel plans.

If teams cannot race on Toro Park at anytime during the season before the section meet, I can't see how CCS could hold their meet at Toro Park.

Albert, giving teams, especially from the south part of the section, a chance to schedule a meet at Crystal before CCS should be the motivating factor in the board changing the location as soon as possible.

I think CCS will have an announcement very shortly.

Will they go back to a rotation or make the decision to use one of the best courses in the country every year for the section final? If they rotate, would it go back to Toro next year or keep it at Crystal next year, as is the schedule right now, and then go to Toro the year after that?
