Well, technically, these are not the updated top times. As of Sept. 6, the day of the race, both top ten lists have changed.
Monte Vista's Meredith Corda won the senior girls race with a new #6 all time performance of 12:27.19. Second place in the senior race, with the 2nd fastest time on the day for all races, Liberty's Kai Bohannon secured the #10 spot on the all time fastest list for the course as well. With their stellar performances, Meredith and Kai bump two of the valley's greats, Diana George and Sophie Harley off the list.
Meanwhile, Miramonte's Jonathan Fiero and Dougherty's Neil Braganza, taking first and second in the senior boys race also claimed their spots, #9 and #10, on the all time top ten list.
If you have time to repost the lists, that would be wonderful and would be an honor to these talented athletes. Thank you!
Will do. Thank you Courtney.
Thanks, Albert! It would be great if you could give the MVI a little coverage. Our local paper (East Bay Times) has decided to stop covering high school cross country, so your coverage is more important than ever. They wouldn't even print the top finishers in our paper. I know you've been busy with last weekend's meets, but when you repost MVI results, that would be much appreciated. (Also, I guess it's not possible to edit one's own posts? I just realized I misspelled Hartley).
Hi Albert,
I know I am probably the only person left on Earth who will see it when you update this blog post and I am sure that with the meet being almost a month old, it is super low priority on your list. I also know that this message that I am writing is public and that I am one of the few XC parents out there who posts to this site with my own name (never hiding behind "anonymous").
Please forgive me my 'crazy OCD XC mom' side when I ask you again to update this post. Again, I know this is public, and for anyone who knows me personally, they can affirm that I love the Starns, all of them, with all my heart and think that Brooke Starn has been an absolutely fantastic role model and teammate to Meredith for years. I also know that being the high road kind of people they are, they will not think it petty of me to point out two things:
1) It would be fair if you clarified that Brooke's course record is the course record for WOMEN since at the time she made that record, she was a high school graduate. So, technically, the course record among high school athletes still belongs to Chloe Hansel.
2) It would be nice if for the first race of her first year without Brooke as a teammate, the race that Meredith won with the fastest time on the day and 6th all-time time, at her home meet, her senior year, she might actually have her name posted on CCE in the Monte Vista Invite post instead of having the only post about the race start with a Brooke Starn record.
There. I got it off my chest.
I'm sure no slight was ever intended and I love CCE and continue to be one of your biggest fans.
Okay, yes, I will go take my Xanax now. And in about 30 minutes I will probably have a nervous breakdown for being such a complete weirdo in public. And then Meredith will probably get wind of this post and die of absolute embarrassment and then I will have to figure out how to contact you live and beg you to remove this post.
:)
I will get this fixed when I get home. Thanks for keeping me in line 😀
