Boys: Strangio (Jesuit), Middleton-Pearson (Dublin) , Peattie (Bellarmine), D. Hernandez (Vacaville), Austin Vasquez (Whitney), Amirk Barkan (SFD), Patrick Curulla (DLS), Aidan McCarthy (Amador Valley), Colton Swinth (Maria Carillo), Kellen Steplight (Vacaville).

Girls: Harper McClain (St. Helena), Riley Chamberlain (Del Oro), Madison Kackley (Gregori), Anna Vogtman (VDL), Isabella Fauria (St. Francis), Cate Joaquin (St. Francis), Tatianna Cornejo (St. Francis), Eleanor Wikstrom (Highline), Charlotte Tomkinson (Menlo), Sofia Karperos (Rio)

Apologies to those who I haven't seen compete first hand this year this is mostly off the top of my head in no particular order. Haven't given much thought to the team, but clearly Bellarmine and Dublin are currently the class of the boy's side. Will be interesting to see what Jesuit can do now that they are close to having their full top 5. For the girls, St. Francis has looked very impressive. If they can find a solid 4 and 5 spot, they could compete with anybody in the state/nation, but only time will tell.

4 of the boys and 7 of the girls are scheduled to take part in Saturday's Capital Cross Challenge, should be a good one.

Don’t know where to drop this so I’ll put it here. But I had a discussion with another coach the other day who said that we may not be running at Toro Park for CCS anymore. Personally that is very disappointing. They brought the fact of the cost of renting the park at nearly $5000. It would be a shame to see CCS remove himself from the south. I know St. Francis Parents have been very vocal but there is no greater venue of hosting a meet of this size or caliber. It would be impossible to collect fees at Golden Gate Park and there sadly is no ther venue that has the trailers s to contest a meet of this size. Parking itself is atrocious, even at Crystal Springs. Toro is the only place that can handle it. As for the cost, CCS rents San Jose city college for semifinal and final football games but can’t put money for cross country meet? I looked up the Monterey Bay invitational. They pay the fee but CCS can’t? Over 60 teams are registered currently to run in that meet. Time for CCS to stop the money grab & step up and do the right thing. Toro Park 2020!!!

I have heard the same and there is a definite possibility that Toro Park will not be used again for invitationals and CCS.

That would leave the Crystal Springs course which hosted the CCS meet for many years. At this point, the course is in great shape and is always a viable option for many of the league meets and CCS but will this course be in danger of going away as well at some point?

Any chance a course could be created in Fort Ord? Plenty of trails around that main parking area on Old Reservoir, literally across the street from Toro. Under BLM instead of Monterey county?

i have not seen Castiglioni (Davis High) in any results. and update?

If you are asking about Sofia, she graduated.

I think the commenter asking about Castiglioni was referring to Zino, who is a senior this year, was the top Davis finisher at sections and hasn't run this year. Though he didn't run, he was listed as a registered runner, so I am thinking that he is coming back from an injury.

I think Shoreline Park would make an ideal location.

Yes, Zeno. Thanks.

Shoreline has too many animals there that are protected. Plus Google, imagine trying to leave a meet there on a weekday.

The WBAL and WCAL used to hold one of their annual league meets at Shoreline and that stopped due to an endangered owl. It was a good course but the start was treacherous at best and most coaches were probably happy to find another venue.

Though D5 schools done often rank in the top 10, I'd like to mention the Lick-Wilmerding girls. They had 7 girls under 13 minutes at the Viking Opener. Very impressive.

Any chance the CSU-Monterey Bay's XC program would put in a course as they build out that campus? Might be create a spectator friendly course with a 1 mile and 2 mile loop or 1k/2k/3k loops in the adjacent open space. Would also make a nice training facility for them.. Plenty of parking on the campus too.

I doubt CCS finals would draw any more people to Shoreline Park than a typical concert might. Especially with most of the traffic gone by 2pm on a Saturday morning in November. I don't think there are concerts at this time of year. I believe they still run numerous races of all distances at the park. There is so much parking and a ton of open space for any start or finish. The set of trails and hills between Crittenden Ln and North Rd could be incorporated like they were for the PA course.

Shoreline was a terrible course and no way cold host a meet like CCS. Currently two courses are capable of this: Toro & Crystal. And Crystal is the better course but a terrible venue for parking, bathrooms, trash, neighborhood support.
