I've heard (and also from my own watch) that the NCS Bayshore 3200 is about 7.5 seconds too fast. So Colin Burke ran about a 9:33, not a 9:25.

Doubtful that the 3200s were fast given the use of fully automated timing...

Albert, your links to the Class A and Redwood results both go to the PDF for the Class A results.

And computers/electronics don't malfunction ever?

Hopefully there will be some footage of the race from Bayshore to affirm this claim.

Videos from ccs trials?

Might show some validity to the timing -announcer can be heard saying 9:32

With this video it does indeed look like there was a mistake in the timing. At this point however it really isn't worth making a big deal about it because, afterall, this was only a qualifying race.

^thanks for that video. You can see the race starts at at the beginning of the video and Burke passes the camera around 9:30 in the video (which would be around 9:30 in the race).

Case rested.

Also, I was the announcer.

Starting to upload my race videos from Bayshore now. Will see another perspective on the timing. Search Aggiemacks on Youtube...

Seems like a lot of DQ's in the 4x400's. Is that right?

With Lynx, it is possible to use the wrong start time for a race. But it's also just as easy to correct since it stores the last 5 start times from the wireless starter in the file. So all you need do is pick a different start time and see if it lines up better to what you think it is. Very easy.

Who are Bret Greene and Owen Woo?

Anonymous said...

SMB's girls 4X400 DQ'ed? They aren't listed in the finals. Everyone know what happened?

Anonymous said...

Yes, 7.x seconds is about right.

Bret Greene was an individual State qualifier for Alameda in XC, fyi, so it shouldn't be too surprising that he qualified for MOC....

BTW, Andrew and Brad were outstanding at the mic on Sat!

For SMB girls 4x400, I'm not sure which one is official between MileSplit and athletic.net, but they are listed as winning with a 3:52.49 on athletic.net. It looks like a lot of 4x400s are not listed on MileSplit for both boys and girls.

And thanks! I had a lot of fun!

Anyone know why Ariel Monsalud scratched? He did well at MVAL

Anonymous said...

Sadly Ariel Monsalud was involved in a crash at the start of the 1600M and was too injured to restart or run later races

Owen Woo droppe a huge PR of about 15 seconds and took the last spot.
