Good decision by Stanford to have Floreal leave. A "jumps" coach was a total misfit at a distance running school like Stanford. Time to trade up. Too bad that the distance runners had to suffer for so long.
I don't believe Stanford had any part in this decision. Floreal was offered a higher paying job at Kentucky and took it. In fact, I believe the only coach left at Stanford is their sprint coach, but could be wrong there.
Isn't Plumer still there for the girls distance, or did she leave too?
It's a good opportunity for Stanford to hire a more qualified head coach....a distance background would be very helpful. A major upgrade is very possible.
Here is the list of track & field coaches from the gostanford.com web site:
Kyle White - Assistant Coach - Sprints/Hurdles/High Jump
PattiSue Plumer - Associate Cross Country Coach - Assistant Track Coach
Toby Stevenson - Assistant Coach - Multi-Events/Pole Vault
Garrettt Heath - Volunteer Assistant Coach
Joseph Wagstaffe - Director of Operations
It's interesting that Kentucky made such a big mistake. Maybe they didn't conduct any due diligence. Too bad!
