The Bellarmine College Prep2 cross country team enters the season ranked No. 1 in the first Mercury News poll of area coaches. The Bells looked impressive at the Early Bird Invitational at Salinas' Toro Park on Saturday, easily winning the team race with a time of 81:10 from its top five runners. San Benito (83:21) was second.

The Bells had three runners finish in the top 10 among all the races combined Saturday. Junior Jack Bordoni (16:01) was sixth, while seniors Tony Ferrari (16:09) and Kyle Rae (16:12) were eighth and ninth on the 3-mile course.
