Better race at CCS Top 8: boys 1600 or 3200?

Colin Peattie, a freshman, 4:19 for 1600m?

Now, THAT is one impressive mark!

Miranda is going to smash the 3200. Has the list been released?

Miranda is listed in the mile at Mt Sac next weekend so it is unlikely he will run at Top 8. As for Peattie running 4:19, wow! That will make the 1600 the best race of the night for sure with 7 under 4:20. Of those 7, 5 are from the same league. That league only gets 2 auto entries to the CCS semi, so here we go again. Good thing the AL time is 4:23, easily in reach of all 5, even if the league final is somewhat strategic.

The wind has been more a factor in recent years to slow down the times in several leagues. Hopefully, the deserving athletes that should be in CCS can advance from their own league.

We have talked this one to death. The Section is not interested in getting the best, deserving athletes to CCS. If they were, they would level out the league autos - 2 or 3 per league with larger ones getting only 1 more than the smaller ones. The rest come from at large times in 2 categories: 1) any time made during the year that is faster than the slowest league auto from that year; or 2) current at large system. Problem solved.

There are currently 7 boys under 4:20 in 1600 in CCS and I would say 3 of those boys will choose to run in other events.

Anyone wishing to change the CCS entry procedures is welcome to create a proposal, and any league representative can bring that proposal to the Section.

Don’t waste your time. Someone did a lot of work a few years ago and the section changed the date of the one and only meeting where proposals can be made so they didn’t have to review it. The system and the board are biased against change.

Does anyone know where the entries are for CCS Top 8?

Not posted yet.

Top 8 posted now at Lynbrook. The Bellarmine boys running a DMR at Mt. Sac instead of participating in the CCS Top 8 is interesting. Anyone understand the reasoning? They need a qualifying mark for a larger meet (Penn)? Too bad we will not have Scales, MBR, and Miranda at the Top 8 this year but I guess that can happen when you're a senior and already signed at a D1 college.
