Alex Enos St. Ignatius senior long jumper

At yesterday's CCS Top 8 meet, St. Ignatius senior Alex Enos jumped 25'0" which is the new national leader. It's also the 4th best jump in CCS history. The photo is from earlier in the season when he jumped 24'2.5".

All results from the meet can be found here:

Aside from that incredible jump, who else impressed?

No doubt a big jump and the pits had about 1 foot more sand than kbell, however the sand was not flush with the ground per the rules. A big jump no doubt but there is a big Los Gatos bonus there.

Why wasn't the sand level to the board/ground. Come on now. Is this amateur hour? Now we will never know.

I get that you're upset, but this is quite literally an amateur sport.

It's (a lot) less common than you think for a HS facility to have sand level with the runway. LGHS isn't some pariah of the jumping world here.

Not upset Coach Tim but again if you have a jumper in your start sheet who jumps over 24' and on the girls side other good jumpers too, why don't you make it official by filling the pits with sand?

There is no excuse honestly, especially since Top 8 consistently double dips for alternates so I'm sure that they can afford to buy sand with that money. Or did they do that on purpose to hype the meet up since there was quite a bit of hype for sure. Not to discredit Enos, but this is an unofficial mark and should be recorded as so in order to maintain the integrity of the sport.

If you are a coach, you can certainly bring this up with your league rep who can, in turn, bring it up at the CCS postseason meeting.
