Congrats to all of the Norcal winners & also to those that scored pts! Especially congrats to SFS winner Pamela Amaechi. Who was the last winner from the SFS?

The last San Francisco state champion was Derek Shepard Lincoln SF who won the 400 meters in 46.95 in 1992.

Christ DeMartini St. Ignatius (San Francisco) won the 1994 shot put with a mark of 58'11.5".

Shannon Rowbury Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) won the 2001 800 in 2:10.31 and 2002 1600 meters in 4:52.77.

There are more previous winners from San Francisco but I may have missed somebody in the 90s and later.

Niki Iyer 3rd, wow impressive and definitely a contender to win it next year! It has been very cool to see her chip away time at each race, looks like her future is very bright!

9:29 at-large time to advance out of league to CCS SEMI yet 4 state finalists run 9:30 and slower? Why don't we just take our best and do away with the current auto and at-large system?

Not understanding 4:41 comment. Looking at anyone fishing greater that 9:30 in the state meet. One was a DNF - not sure what went on there.

Charlie Pope - 9:55 in state meet, but qualified with a 9:16. Bad race?
Samuel Boon - 9:33 in state meet, but qualified also with a 9:16 as well Bad race?
Beau Prince - 9:56 in state meet, but quality with a 9:22. Sure - probably other sections had faster runners, but the best from those sections surely made it.

Are you saying they were not qualified to run in the state meet?

Anyway, it is like the NBA playoffs. OKC v Warriors was the real title series and we all know it. The East probably shouldn't have anyone in the playoffs. I doubt they would have gotten past Portland. Or the NFL letting non-winning teams into a playoff and bypassing much stronger teams. If you want to make it for sure, hit the auto qual. :)

Of course, those kids ran 9:10, 9:16, 9:16, and 9:16 to make it to State.

Yes, 10:43 you put your finger on it. You could be the #4 kid in the CCS, run 9:23 during the year and come in third in your league (if you are lucky enough to only get 2), miss the at large by :03, and get told to go home. In your words: Bad race - "now, kid go home and think about it for a year!" We should be sending our best, period. We do not send our best to the semi, period. Fix this unbelievable, man-made cluster F now so we can move on!

Anybody know if videos of the races are available anywhere? I found a few races randomly posted on youtube, but not having any luck finding most of them. Thanks

Is a proposal going to the CCS tonight to change the at-large back to what it was? If so, what is the process, how does it get approved, and by who? What are the chances they make this one, small, first step toward getting more of our top kids in to the semi?

Did the WCAL succeed in changing the at large rule on Tuesday?

The result was posted under another post. The proposal was tabled so no go for next year.

Wow. How could the CCS not see the need to make a simple change? Guess they only care about the large public leagues. Where do we go to vote them out?

5 leagues were present, 8 leagues were not at the meeting so no vote could take place.
