Are we voting on what was done in high school only or beyond?
Good question and I think we should vote on what they accomplished in HS.
Albert Your Missing Calvin Harrison of North Salinas! 200m 20.57 and the 400m 45.25! Sorry If I Created another issue of More Names!
Rob next up will be the 200/400 runners. I started with the strictly 100/200 runners.
Got it!
Is there a performance list here?
Also Harrison failed a drug test in HS and later as a pro. He should not be in any conversation or list whatsoever.

jahvid best lock it in
If you go to the CIF site and look up the California state meet records, Calvin Harrison is listed as the 400m. record holder. So you are telling me that he tested positive in high school and is still listed as the record holder?

Only one of those runners tied the world record (at the time) while in high school. Just sayin'.... :-)
If you lined them all up, my eyes and memory tell me that Best would probably win with O'Neal giving him all he could handle. His 10.31 is also the fastest time even when you convert the hand times yards of Gray and the others. Still, some like the Bill Russell - Boston Celtics definition of greatness and put more weight on titles. If that's the case, and you're considering BOTH section and state titles, Kenny Robinson, Mel Gray and maybe Jimmy Hines enter the conversation. Not sure about Willhite's SJS titles, but remember him being very big and very fast. Lastly, anybody remember Mike Shavers from Albany? 3 NCS 100 titles, 3 NCS 200 titles, a state meet 2nd in the 100 and a 1st and 3rd in the 200. Times are solid but not record-breaking. Seems like he could have at least made the candidates vote?
400 time is listed with a drug suspension note. http://www.prepcaltrack.com/all-time-california-track-and-field-lists/
Claimed it was prescribed medication to help him sleep. Or so they all say.
Shavers is right up there. 9.5 (7) times, 21.0(2), 9.37w at usc as freshman.
Mel Gray 9.4 - 20.7
Dave Masters 9.5(5) 20.9(3)
Jim Hines 9.4-20.9
Jerry Bright 9.6- 21.2 the only man to ever beat Hines in HS
