Do you really not count Blake Haney (4:07) as the favorite in the 1600?

Cody Brazeal beat Haney in the 1600 last year in the section final. These are pre-season rankings and could change as the season progresses but for now, Brazeal is the favorite.

Brazel v Haney is a very tough one to handicap...its going to be a fast and fun race to watch. Hopefully we see them face of long before central section finals - like at Cal Relays or even before...perhaps at Arcadia though that tend to be a 3200 biased meet for the top runners.

Don't get me wrong. I totally get why Haney could be considered the favorite but I just went with the defending champion. It should make for an exciting season and hopefully both runners will be healthy and ready to roll.

What happened to Haney this year in XC?

both were hurt in XC. but you may as well put them both as favorites, nearly impossible to differentiate based on current evidence. 407 vs 408 prs, defending champ vs. dream miler. too fine a line to call either way.
