Leadership-Pass It On by Corona HS assistant principal and AD Jim Perry

This past week, I attended the 63rd annual PEACH (Physical Education, Athletic Coaching & Health) conference in San Luis Obispo. One of the best presentations given during the conference was by Corona HS assistant principal and athletic director Jim Perry. While his talk was more than the following quotes, I thought you might enjoy some of them as they are definitely thought provoking and apply to you whether you are a teacher, coach and/or parent.

WE ALL HAVE A STORY
Where did I come from?

Where am I going?

What will I do and be when I get there?

My two degrees: "EbWa" and EbPa" (Educated by Walking around and Educated by Paying attention)

THE PUBLICS CHILDREN
Every generation since the beginning of time has driven their parents completely out of their collective minds.

We are experts at catching kids doing things wrong...how good are we at catching kids doing things right?

Rules you can't enforce.
Rules you aren't willing to enforce.

Thanks for these ... nice to wake up to in the morning.

Here's the quotation on our Captain's Logs: “Enlightened leadership is service, not selfishness. The leader grows more and lasts longer by placing the well-being of all above the well-being of self alone.

“Paradox: By being selfless, the leader enhances self.”
-- from The Tao of Leadership by John Heider
