RUN FOR AHMAUD ARBURY AND GEORGE FLOYD


The Campolindo cross country team is sponsoring RUN FOR AHMAUD ARBURY AND GEORGE FLOYD, a challenge to the running community to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement by running either 2.23 or 8.46 miles on Saturday, June 20, and making a donation to the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation.

1974 CA state meet girls' distance races

A few notes about that article. A lot of time was spent researching what happened at that meet and I really appreciate all the people that responded to my emails like Hal Harkness, Hank Lawson, Roberta Chisam, Scott Chisam, John Pelster, and Ralph Serna. Thanks to Jeff Parenti for helping edit the article. 

That '74 meet only had 8 events and only 9 girls qualified in each event. It wasn't a true representation of the talent around the state but it was a start for CA girls in track and field. There is also more that will be posted about that meet and some of it will feature Northern California athletes and teams.

1974: Girls Get Their Turn at the State Meet
