New NCS record for Sophia Nordenholz at last night's Arcadia Invitational

Among the many amazing efforts, Sophia Nordenholz is now the fastest 3200m runner in NCS history (Jeff Parenti photo). She surpassed the 10:06.3 converted time of Livermore's Cherie Williams that dates back to 1978. You can view the entire list of top 10 NCS marks at this link:

To be honest, I didn't know who Sophia was prior to the first Dublin Social Distance Festival. I interviewed her there and was blown away by her go for broke racing style. By the 2nd DSD Festival, I knew she had a ton of talent, but was not sure how she would perform against a stronger field and she went right to the front and stayed ahead of a talented Harper McClain. Mia Barnett is having an all-time great season and nobody wast bold enough to go with her, but as the first chase pack formed, I was not at all surprised to see Nordenholz emerge from it and go after Barnett. She may have come up a little short, but she set a massive PR and sent out a message to the rest of the state. It's going to be really interesting to see what she does in Cross Country and her senior year of track,

I also came away from the 2nd Dublin Distance Fiesta impressed by her performances. Her time at Arcadia was an absolute jaw-dropper! Take a look at the girls she passed who are in the NCS top 10 list. Wow!
