Aidan Goltra has to be the favorite for the GIRLS 3K...
Who? Are you sure she's even doing it? Top seeds usually drop and only go mile.
Any fast ncs alumni running?
Well considering Aidan is a male, I would have to agree that he is the favorite. Ha!
Hopefully a girl didn't get bumped from running in the meet because of him.
I will let the timer know of the mistake.
Well both Girls Mile and 3000 are loaded with some outstanding Talent, but I'm going to route for Local SCCAl SV Runner Vanessa Fraser! She ran 4:54 yesterday in our Dual meet!
Matt Alexander'll be a good competitior for the field
in a recent dual, 4:33 1600m, 2:02 800m, 10:01 3200m, 53sec 4x400 split. (ended up self-pacing 1600m, 800m, 3200m)
4:33 made it into Stanford? Surprising.
Why would a coach put a kid through 4 events like that. Sure the kids can handle it but come the end of the season when everyone is beating them they wonder why. Well this is why!
As for Fraser, what a league race at the end of the year. Probably more competitive than ccs when kids focus on certain events. Just another example how the system is broken as the other amazing runners have no shot at a top 2 spot. You could see a 5 flat girl have a bad day and not make it.
Quite a Few Girls In the SCCAL will have a Chance to Qualify for CCS in the 1600m, there is no limit on numbers as Long as they run under 5:16.90 on that particular day!
Right... But that is dang fast and a bad day, bad weather or a number of any other problem could really hurt all those fast runners. Hope it's not 100 degrees. Good luck with your season!
My guess is it takes 5:05 just to make the final!
What about qualifying like swimming were once you hit the mark anytime during the season, you're in. That way certain leagues are not penalized by an excessively hot or windy day at their league final.
No Deuel from San Ramon?
Im not a coach but that seems like a no brainer. Run the time in an invite within the qualifying window and you are in. Provisional times to fill the field as needed. Conference champs can still have an auto.
It works for NCAA why not ccs? What are the arguments against this and why don't coaches go to bat for these kids?
It looks like Gavin Ramos is also in the Girls 3K, he is also from the same HS as Aidan Goltra. Now there are 42 boys and 38 girls for the 3K.
does anyone want to throw out predictions (top 5) for girls 3k and mile?
Albert I agree with You!
Rob... Why don't the leagues try to change this?
I proposed the same thing for xc and the at large times. It was shot down. We can always try again. Just need one league to initiate the proposal.
I was wondering where the top talent was going to go, between Stanford and Arcadia. Looks like Arcadia has way more competition than Stanford. Hopefully these two meets will be on different weekends next year.
