1600.
Boys or girls?
Albert, I'm pretty sure it's going to be Both This Year!
for the boys... either 200 or 1600
3200 meters at State Meet for sure... always is with a straight final.
Makes you wonder if they can put 24 runners on the line at State why does CCS only put 12. CCS should make a time standard and go straight final.
Or at least a time standard that will qualify for the trials. Making kids run league, then semi's (often faster than the finals at least on the girls side), finals and State is not good for the athletes.
CCS Boys
- this year for sure definitely the 1600m
CCS Girls
- its gonna be the 3200m or the 1600m
NCS Guys
- definitely the 1600m, there are so many guys under or definitely capable of sub-4:20
NCS Girls
- tough...im gonna say the 3200m is gonna be a fast race
i have no idea what events besides the distances
For CCS I would say Boys 800m and 3200m and The girls 1600 and 3200 just as egually hard followed by the 800m!
Sorry I posted that above!
The question should be which is the most competitive distance event in Norcal. Mathmatically it usually ends up being a sprint, but very few people will come on this site and say that the 100m is the toughest.
Or what about what is the deepest event in any section in Northern CA (ie. going to be the most difficult to make state)?
In the NCS, I'd say the boys 400 will be the toughest with at least 5 returners under 50 seconds already. On the girls' side, either the 800 or the high jump.
For NCS Boys...Agree with Ozzie on the Boys 400M. It should be a great race this year and someone always comes out of nowhere to contend as well. Really looking forward the depth of the Boys 1600M races this year and watching Andre McBride from San Leandro in the 100 & 200M races.
For NCS Girls...The 800M race this year is so deep with talent it's scary. At least 5 girls girls that could run under 2:15. Also, the girls distances should be very competitive. Will be very interesting to see which race Christine Bayliss focusees in on her freshman year.
Happy New Year's to all!
Something to definitely be said for the Boys 3200m for NCS. It has Luna, Joyce, Lawson, Silva, Tonkyn, Deuel (I would imagine? He didn't compete last Track season), and Conner. I could be leaving some guys out. Thoughts on that race?
Agreed on the 3200 at NCS. Lots of contenders and only 4 spots to state although the at-large time might come into play. We'll just have to see who chooses to stick to the 3200 this year in that section.
