Thanks. Fixed.

All CCS leagues now get at least 2 auto qualifiers (like it was). There was a proposal to go to only 1 auto qualifier. The old CCS information had only 1 qualifier.

Really, one heat of the 3200. Why even have a trial? Put all those kids in one race? Might as well put them straight throu to the final.

What a joke and insult to distance runners.

I think that was only a proposal and am not sure if that passed.

I see that NCS followed the state's lead and went to alleys in the 800 rather than lanes. 3 heats (of 8?) in trials with top 3 in each heat +3 fastest in trials, followed by a 12 person final. Totally different race now as 4 out of 8 participants used to qualify to state and now it's 3 out of 12. It will be interesting to see how the tactics will change.

Albert - I believe the 1 heat of 3200 with Top 12 advancing is indeed a change (per the unnofficial minutes) at:

http://www.prepcaltrack.com/ATHLETICS/TRACK/2013/ccsmnpre.doc

the only thing that is still up for debate is the 1 auto qualifier.

I heard the one auto qualifier didn't pass.

Really, you are going to put 32 + kids on the track for the 3200 to save 30 minutes? Whoever even suggested this is creating a mess.

They should go straight final but implement a minimum of 11:59 to enter the race. Even then kids are getting lapped. Everyone can run hard for a lap or two, imaging the implications if one of the favorites gets tangled up and falls. This is awful and probably from a sprint coach who cares less and knows nothing about distance running.

Lets run CCS finals a week before CCS finals!

1 auto league qualifier for CCS did not get approved. See CCS: http://www.cifccs.org/playoffs/bylaws/12-13/track%20and%20field%20boys%20bylaws%202012-13%20update.pdf
