Looking over some of the meet results, I notice the two freshman girls from Albany posting pretty elite times after running relatively slow at Lowel. Interested to know if anyone was at some of the meets they were at.
In looking at the results, it looks like those two girls ran the Lowell Invitational with another freshman girl at a controlled effort. They raced the JV race at Farmer and actually ran faster than the winning time of the Varsity race. They also finished first and second at the Be the GOAT XC Invitational.
Those two girls are Eliana and Lucille and are very fast. They trained with the youth club the raptors. They will be a force in Division IV for years.
Yeah that was me and my teammate running the slow Lowell time. we were pacing one of our other teammates it was not meant to be a race for us
An influx of new talent in Division IV is great. Archie Williams has a very strong group of girls, and hopefully, there will be teams that are on the rise like Albany.
Is the new ncs course at Hayward shorter? Faster? Why the change?
I am sure same distance and reason for change is probably to ease some of the spotty areas in case of rain and mud.
The new changes at Hayward are sort of subtle. Last couple years the mud in the backside was awful and the racing really suffered. So, they moved up the start by about 75 meters. When you return from the back field, where the small turns and mud were, you go straight towards the hill. This avoids the muddy area. Very small change. Other change is when you come down the hill. At the bottom of the hill you don’t have the sharp turn, they straightened that out for a more gradual bottom. And this is where you gain your 75 meters back over 2 hills. This section is a little longer coming off the hill. Seen a couple races here, and time difference is pretty negligible, so records should still be a match. If anything, I would thing times would be a couple seconds slower. Coming off the hill is different. Avoiding the muddy area is a good change
Yes:) Coach Luther, Antioch
The drop and right turn from the hill ascent is a great viewing area - very F1 chicane-like but more carousel 🎠😕😊
