This is such a good pickup for ORHS.

This coaching choice goes well with the talent on the girl's side. They return their top 5 runners with only 1 senior, and if they don't podium at state this year, they will definitely next year. Chad's experience will help competing against the big teams from Socal.

In past years, the boys team have had difficulty getting runners to stick around for all 4 years of XC. Times are looking better though. They have a couple of decent incoming freshman, and a sophomore who could go top-10 at state. Chad brings the experience & success to keep the other runners around, and create a solid top 5. Probably not this year, but next year the team could challenge for its first trip to state since 2010.

If Chad stays around long enough, both boys and girl's teams could regularly become D1 favorites when XC sections roll around.

How did they hire someone this quickly? From what I know a school has to post these on EdJoin for at least 2 weeks for people to apply. Just saying this because previous coach where I'm at called and wanted me to be the next head coach but I had to wait for them to post the job and apply like everyone else before just being handed the job. Not sure what happened in this situation just curious since it happened so quickly.

One of the best coaches around. Oak Ridge will benefit from his experience.

I wonder if this is for a year while Bob Wright is suspended or if it's permanent. Seems like an awkward situation.

I think he is suspended from any coaching activities for just 1 year. He can re-apply to be a coach next year.

But Chad previously coached at Inderkum HS for the last few years, so my guess is he wouldn't give that up for just a single year at another school.

That being said, all coaching contracts are "at will" by school and coach.
