In 2013, my son took the line at Toro Park next to a kid wearing a University of Oregon singlet. It was the middle school race before the Early Bird so we didn't know what to expect. The "Oregon" kid looked pretty fast so we kept our eye on him. It turns out he won the race by a few seconds and immediately became one of the kids to watch in northern California. That kid was Chris Anderson and he turned out to be one of those kids you watched throughout his HS career. My son took the line multiple times with Chris in XC and on the track during the next six years and they always respected each other. Chris is a good kid and I am sure his family is too. I am contributing to their recovery and I hope you will too.
