How can you rank a 41-1 triple jump behind and 39 foot mark?

Hmmm?? Thought a win in the 800 would be better than 10th place!

If you won a State championship you should be ranked ahead of some won did not. IMHO

The rankings are based solely by performance rankings. It doesn't matter where you finished in your event.

I'm pretty sure the ranking is based on how the USATF and IAAF score the prospective marks. They are based on how well their times/marks are compared to other athletes in the same event. It has nothing to do with how they placed.

I could be wrong though.

An incredibly silly exercise in futility. One of the best performances didn't even make your list and came from Isabella Fauria, who battled back after almost 2 years of not running to take 4th in the 800. Find a model or metric that compares guts, desire and heart and I think the results would be a bit different.

Fauria's 2:10 and 4th place finish was an impressive performance.

Good objective list. A nice mix of sprint/distance/field events adds to the credibility.

There are multiple scoring charts that can be used to compare different performances. They do not take into account state championships as those can be deceiving based on the competition. I will have the boys posted later today.

Colin Peattie, second in the 1600 at 4:09.99 as a Sophomore?

Albert Caruana said...

Impressive double for Peattie but the scoring tables just take into account the effort and not the age of the athlete.

Yes Fauria was indeed impressive, but this is an objective chart. Also Track is an objective sport, everything is based on objective marks. Read before commenting.

I went back and double checked all the marks and used the IAAF tables which is why you see some changes to the top 10 lists.

Colin Peattie is a sophomore but looks more mature than most 20 year olds. How old is he?

I believe Colin Peattie is actually 23 years old.

I just went through the list of returning boys athletes for the state track meet and excluding field events, it's almost all Sac Joaquin Section Athletes:
100 & 200: Ryan Mulholland of Del Pro
400: 2nd fastest returner is Camden Wheeler of Monterey Trail
800: Chase Gordon of Jesuit
1,600 Matt Strangio of Jesuit
3,200 2nd fastest returner Matt Strangio of Jesuit
110HH: Jamar Marshall of St. Mary's
300 H: Jamar Marshall of St. Mary's

Obviously the top 10 is heavily skewed towards the Southern Section but there are other Northern California athletes show up in several of the events.
800: 2nd Garrett MacQuiddy 3rd: John Lester
1,600 Middleton-Pearson, Peattie, Garcia
3,200 Peattie, Topper, Vasquez.
