Bellarmine boys run US #1 DMR to break meet and CCS record at Stanford Invitational

You can check out all the details (10:03.67!) including splits, previous CCS record and more at this LINK.

Also, Luis Grijalva Armijo just ran 3:49.89 in the 1500 for US #1.

A couple of highlights from the high school portion as well as not so high school portion for Grijalva. Look for more to be posted tomorrow as we should have some outstanding races tomorrow. I think we are going to have an awesome girls mile and am really interested to see what Claudia Lane can run in the mile tomorrow.

If you have anything to add, please feel free to do so in the comment section below.

The following photos were taken by Thomas Benjamin. Big thanks to him. The splits below are courtesy of Bellarmine coach, Patrick McCrystle.
1200 Alex Scales Jr.: 59.5 /62.8/60.3–3:02.6
400 Tommy Rocha Sr.: 50.9

3:02 for Scales, wow! The other kids were outstanding, but not to that level. With his strength (15:10 at Crystal, I think) and speed (recent 1:53 negative-split 800m), looking for him to run 4:0x high in the 1600m soon!

Also looking forward to the boys mile, especially after the 3:02.x 1200
from Alex Scales in the DMR for Bellarmine. He has an incredible range.

It will be an exciting meet tomorrow with all the distance events.
Claudia Lane, Mari Friedman, Michael Vernau, Ben Micallef and others
will all make it a great meet to watch.

Agreed on the boys mile. I just hope the fastest kids are all in the fastest section. That doesn't always happen at Stanford.

Agreed that was a great race...and it was over by the gun...Great leg by Scales, and the other boys too...Speaking of DMRs, Mari Friedman's 1600M leg 4:52 was very impressive...

Can't wait to see the Girls 800, Boys Mile, and Girls Mile too...Pretty exciting atmosphere along with great weather...Good luck to all tomorrow!
