NorCal 2015 Track and Field preview

It's hard to believe that the 2015 Track and Field season is fast approaching so that means it's time for Track and Field previews. In the next month or so, look for previews for different sections and track/field events. Who are the state meet contenders in each section? Who are the NorCal athletes or teams with the talent to compete with the best at the California State Meet? Who is the best Track and Field athlete (male and female) in NorCal? Who will be the most improved? What is the strongest event in NorCal? What is the toughest event in any NorCal section to qualify for the state meet?

Feel free to comment below.

I think their is going to be a major surprise in the 3200 this year from an underdog this season

Yeah the 3200 will be highly competitive between Burke, Schumann, Reinhart? (not sure if he'll do track), Ehrenberg, Frisbie, Teare, Salazar, and others. A bunch of underdogs...

How about a low mid 9:30s in practice by a NorCal runner is that potential?

Get to sub 9:15 and then you might have a shot.

We always get these posts but there's never any real articles. How about some write ups now and then? And please don't give me the "then you do it" response as I'm not asking for donations. I'd be happy to write stuff up if they pay me. Anyways, im doing your work for free. Here's my picks after a quick glance at the 2014 results in regards to CCS athletes (who have a shot at a state title / podium)

GIRLS

Piedmont Hills 300 hurdler soph is defending champ.

Valley Christian shot putter is top returner

Piedmont Hills 4x4 returns their superstar three. One more and they're champs.

800 in CCS returns two state finalists.

BOYS

Triple jumper and high jumper from Mt. Pleasant both finalists last season.

Hardest event. How about any female distance event in CCS. 1600 State champ 3 years running, and 6 sub 5 at Finals. 8 of 12 finalist returning. 6 SUB 2:13 at finals in the 800! It took 2:18.24 just to make the finals. 7 of top 10 return, including 2 state podium finishers. The 3200 only returns 20 of the top 23 from trials last year including 7 with sub 11 personal best.
None of this even includes a young lady with the last name Lacy.

Dear Anonymous at 10:09:
Proving content for this site is not really Albert's job. He does this on top of teaching and coaching. And the donations (if he really does get any) are to cover the costs of the site. He does many articles and previews all year long, and in any case, soliciting input is not a dereliction of any duty.

Thanks Peter.

I always appreciate the input from the many visitors to this site which is why I usually ask for feedback.

I will start posting the previews sometime this week.

Feel free to keep posting in the meantime.

Hey Albert, Love the site. It's the best in the area and the fact you do it "voluntarily" is an amazing thing. Thank you for doing that! I've donated in the past and I'll do it again even though one of my high school runners has graduated and my second will graduate this year. Obviously the "anonymous" poster doesn't visit your site frequently enough, there are many great articles and interviews. In fact, you interviewed my daughter and did a tremendous job! I wouldn't say that you asking readers for input is a negative. It's quite the opposite, hearing the opinions of others in different areas is very interesting and it also helps you to recognize and notice talented runners that you might not otherwise hear of or see. Once again, love the site, thanks for doing it and keep up the good work!

I'd include Rylee Bowen somewhere on the girls 3200 list.

Thanks to Peter Brewer for his spot on reply. Also kudos to Albert for all his work at this site. Note that Gabe Arias-Sherdian has graduated and runs for St Mary's University.
