Nice interview....Now that the 4x8 has been added..how about the 4x200, Shuttle Hurdle Relays...and the javelin.
I think the issue with adding another running event is where to place it in the schedule. I guess the javelin may be an option but you have the same issue. Where do you place it in the meet and what locatin would you contest it?
I think you would begin by looking at the schedules of those states that have those events and see their schedules. As for the javelin, it looks like there is another track near the parking area that could be used for the javelin.
Buchanan HS definitely has the space for it. Other schools that would now have to contest the event during the regular and post season may not. As for the state meet schedule, if you look at other states, everybody has their own schedule and some are so different than what we have in CA. Many states have several divisions while CA has one. I can't remember when they changed to the current schedule but when I ran in hs, the 800 was early on in the meet, the 2 mile was in the middle and the mile was right before the 1600 relay. I hear you on the events you would like to see added. Now that they have added the 4 x 800, what would be the next potential event that they will try to add. As you know, it takes a lot to make a major change like that.
Personally, I like the shuttle hurdle relay, but I think the 4x2 or a COED relay.
