Peter Brewer is a great man. I ran for Dublin High, a competitor. He was always willing to coach, help, converse and be friendly with athletes of all teams. He has a great passion for the sport. He has a big heart. This is an honor that he deserves and it is long overdue.

Peter Brewer Creates Legacy in Track, Cross Country at CVHS

Peter Brewer’s legacy as a highly successful cross country and track and field coach at Castro Valley High lives on through annual invitational meets that he created and the school continues to host today.

When I grow up, I want to be Peter Brewer! While his impact on thousands of runners at Castro Valley and now Northgate is undeniable, his influence on the area coaching community is huge as well. I know that he made a big impact on me when I was a rookie coach. I can recall at the NCS meet one of my first years, my girls team had just missed a State Meet spot - finishing 3rd to Peters CV team (and I think to Chuck's College Park team). I was an off campus newbie coach, a nobody, but Peter sought me and my girls out after the meet and gave us a great pep talk as to how impressive they had ran, etc, and it made a big impact on us all.

Peter was quoted recently as saying that Coach Webb from James Logan deflects any personal credit, which is spot on, but that fully describes Coach Brewer as well.

A well deserved honor.

Well put Mike. I will also add that Peter for many years hosted coaching clinics that benefitted a lot of local coaches. He has also had an impact by being part of the governing body of both sports at the section and state levels.
