Any of the coaches on this site have an opinion about kids running in the all comer meets on Saturdays vs training only during the winter? My kid is relatively new to the track and needs a lot more time working out his tactics but he is involved in a winter training program that does not allow time for competition. Thoughts on how to do both, or what is more important?
I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to your question. There have been plenty of kids who have had success racing and not racing during the winter. I think the most important part is that the athlete believes in what he or she is doing training wise.
