Any thoughts on the above rankings? Who is missing? Who should be ranked higher or lower? What team is going to be the biggest surprise in CCS for either boys and/or girls?

Coach McCrystle here from BCP. I think Doug did a pretty good job, though I definitely don't agree with all his choices. I will only comment on DI boys right now, though. Carlmont #1, I see Salinas #2 based on experienced top runners, and then we have good depth. But where I differ with Doug is I think the other teams from the southern part of the Section will be very tough: San Benito, Watsonville, and my big upset team, Alisal (great young talent from track.) And Homestead and Monte Vista both have two super runners up front, so if there 3-5 runners improve then look out...and you know they will with good coaches in good programs like that. All in all, I think DI will be really tough this year Good luck to all!
Has a Carlmont coach been named yet?
I think Lynbrook is over ranked. They will be good but second in D2?
Lynbrook has a good duo of Cindy Huang and Lauren Tang
D1 is actually pretty weak overall (especially compared to D2, and more so on the boys side since the Gunn girls are now in D1)
Lynbrook girls are not over-ranked. Besides Huang and Tang, they have several returners ready to break into the 19's, and 2 new freshman that ran fast miles as eighth graders.
I think I also read that Carlmont is getting 3 superfast freshman girls, so their new coach will have some great talent to add to the fast girls already there.
Ralston has been a great feeder school for Carlmont for many years dating back to Loren Lansberry.
Evan, I believe that poster on dyestatcal was referring to several boys coming to Carlmont this year. I am guessing on that but the times sounded like boys' times (ex: 17:40 at Crystal).
I heard Lynbrook is getting 2 girls in the 5:30-5:45 range. Is this true? That will be huge for them. Actually Lynbrook may end up winning D2 overall.
Actually Albert I didn't read it on dyestat, I read it on this site (comments connected to Walt Van Zant's CCS list). But you are right, it never said girls ... I guess I just assumed girls because the post above it mentions girls.
To the anonymous poster above me: after the Lynbrook girls, who do you think will get the other two CCS spots in D2 for the state meet?
Evan,
You are right. Here is the mentioned comment:

Carlmont has a couple of freshman that ran 2:18,2:19 and 2:22 800. Also ran 5:00,5:03 and 5:10.I know one that ran the Crystal Springs course 1.8 at 9:47.The other ran the full course in 17:40.
I think D2 is going to be really close. Lynbrook and Mountain View will battle for the win, and I could see Lynbrook taking it... they have a great top 2, plus new runners with the old ones returning. Mountain View loses a lot, with Mary Reynolds, Alex Westbrook, Kristine Talbot all leaving. Of course, Sturges is huge and Zoe Pappas is good too. Susie Reynolds (Mary Reynolds sister) will also be up there. Should be a very close battle. Behind that is also very close. St Francis, Los Gatos, and Presentation are all up there. However, I will give the edge to LG... so my top 3 is:
Lynbrook
Mountain View
Los Gatos
Thoughts?
Lynbrook isn't the only one getting good freshman... I believe Mountain View is getting yet another fast freshman... Allison Sturges #2?
Mt. View girls will be very strong. They could be even faster than last year. I think 4 of their runners from State are back - and their strong state team didn't even include #2 Sturges (who was injured during state) and will be their #1 runner this year. They also have 2-3 new runners who are already possibly breaking into the top 7. They will be hard to beat in D2.
Coach Ibarra here from North Monterey County...
If any of you guys want information put into the Earlybird Preview let me know at gusibarra@netcape.net
I'll be doing it the next couple of weeks and I hate to leave out very deserving kids and teams...
Good luck to all in 2009!!!
oops missed letter on e-mail... gusibarra@netscape.net
I heard a rumor that Bellarmine has 4 incoming freshman that are 5:35 and faster
Only 4 freshmen under 5:35? :D
Carlmont has a new coach. Her name is Jennifer Randazzo.
Mitty is getting two top caliber freshwomen. Rintala was running low 5:20's this summer. She won the Silicon Valley 8th grade race at St. Francis running away from Weigel. I pick Mitty girls as a surprise top 5 finisher at CCS; this assumes the newbies push the older girls. It will be fun to watch at the Earlybird!
I wouldn't hold my breath on Lynnbrook beating MV girls, though. Evan doesn't rebuild, he reloads!
Mountain View will be unbeatable on both the boys and girls sides. Both the boys and girls are INCREDIBLY stacked and with the coaching of Evan Smith and Go Sasaki will undoubtedly dominate all come CCS championships time. Boys side might be one of the best in CCS history and girls will surprise with some fresh faces on the scene.
Boys could probably win CCS with their JV team.
Boys are severely under ranked in the nation and should be number 1 come NXN.
Someone's going a little overboard. Is that you Chris?
Who me?
