D5 girls, five of the top seven were NCS. Wonder if that gets NCS D5 girls to 6 teams for states next year?
It's based on a 3 year average so very possible considering they did very well last year as well. I can't remember whether it was boys or girls but several years ago, NCS had 7 entries to the state meet in Division V.
Automatic Team Entries (Bylaw 1901)
Team entries are based on a formula that includes two factors:
1) An established baseline providing a minimum number of entries for each Section.
2) Additional entries based upon the most recent four-year history of the Section team
performance in each divisional race. No Section shall have more than seven team entries in
any divisional race.
NCS D5 girls increased their 4 year average from 3.75 to 4.5 and Southern Section D5 girls decreased from 3.00 to 1.25 as they had 7 top 10 finishes in 2021 and 0 in 2025. I expect NCS will go from 5 to 6 and Southern Section to go from 6 to 5 for entries in 2026

I believe based on the numbers that CCS DI boys will go up to 4 spots next year, and LAS will lose their third spot...well done M-A Bears!!!!! BTW, M-A finished 8th in what was by the numbers the fastest single race, by average time, in the history of the State Meet. The whole meet on the boys and girls was incredibly fast, and on the boys side was definitively the fastest; eg, the old record of most teams to break 80 minutes in a state meet was last year, with 28...this year, 39 boys teams broke 80 minutes!!!!!!!!!! 21 boys broke 15 minutes; the highest previous number was 12!!! The Gunn girls averaged under 20 minutes a runner...and were the 86th team in the merge! So, given that perspective, my hat is off to all NorCal runners who showed up and did us proud!
